Encyclopedia of Religion entry for

Agnoitae

Literally " the Ignorant." A sect founded by Theophronius of Cappadocia in the fourth century. They were so called because they professed to have no knowledge regarding the omniscience of God. The followers of Themistius of Alexandria (c. 560) were also called Agnoitae because they professed no knowledge of the divinity of Christ.
