Ana or Ann is mentioned as the name of an ancient Celtic goddess who was worshipped in Ireland. She was a goddess of abundance and prosperity, and is described as the mother of the gods. She would seem to have corresponded to Danu or Don (q.v.). See C. Squire, Myth.
