A saint (also known as Balnek) worshipped by the Mehtars, the caste of sweepers and scavengers in India. According to R. V. Russell and R. B. Hira Lal, he is really the huntsman Valmiki, the reputed author of the Ramayana, who in turn was originally a hunter called Ratnakar.
