Encyclopedia of Religion entry forCalvaryIn the Gospel of Luke (xxiii. 33) it is said in the Authorised Version that Jesus was crucified at a " place which is called Calvary." The Revised Version has a " place which is called The Skull." The Greek word is kranion, which the Revised Version translates. The Authorised Version keeps the Latin word Calvaria.
